You made a comment on the great annual gathering of Rooks. It was about this time of day and month last year that I saw what I'll call glans of Rooks heading from every direction to a copse between Chinnor and Thame. I stopped to watch as more and more came in. Many spending time to do arobatics until they all vanished. Then just as the sun went down they al flew up for one more dance to the sun. So I was looking out of my back window this Sunday and sure enough they were coming over in bunches all fighting the head on wind. I got into my car and they tey all were. This is in my opinion the Rook version of a Sioux Pow Wow (meaning meeting) . A time and place to mix the genes . Photos available

I live in a Hamlet on the borders of East Herts and Essex and for the past two days I have had a swarm of ladybirds in my garden. I have never experienced this before. Is anyone else having the same experience? They seem to be very large and very dark red almost black in colour.
